


Introduction
Was born on the 4th of July 1956 and brought up in Dharwad i.e.place of music and literature. Born in a family of musicians. He learnt under the guidance of father Late Prof. Ustad Abdul Karim Khan and grandson of late sitar ratna Rahimat Khan. The music has been running in the blood of the family for past seven generations from his grandfather to his generation. Family has been undoubtedly popularising sitar in south of India.he also belongs to “beenkar “bande ali khan gharana.
Beginning of the career
Naturally as it was running in the blood of the family he took the sitar in his hands at the age of eight . He was asked to play in a school gathering knowing that the family was in the sitar field. And the feedback that he got from the concert encouraged and gave him confidence to become as popular like his father. But he never thought or dreamt that he would be so popular in sitar.
As this field is very difficult because to gain name and fame the person has to do hard work without gaining anything. This dynamic personality has performed in the most of the prestigious music festivals held in the various countries and abroad. He can also teach almost all string plucked instrument.
Achievements
This talented personality has performed at the suraj shri kesarbai festival organisd by kala academy, samrat club, a regular participant of the monte music festival and many other music festivals he also keeps on organizing saptah sitar vadan every year.he won the first award in the preliminary and inal round of “yuva sangeeth nrithya mahotsav organized by the south central zone cultural centre at nagpur on 6th October 1987.he is also a regular artist on A.I.R,Dharwad and his sitar recitals are broadcast tim and again on A.I.R,Panaji,Goa.he has also scored music to ‘Vadhachakra’the first marathi film of Goa in 1992 and also scored music to ‘Tulsi’a Konkani tele film in 1994.he has also scored live music for one of Kalidas ‘s plays, ‘Abhidnyan Shakuntal’,staged by Prof.Kamlakar Sonatakke on 16th and 17th December.he has a CD to his credit on Raga:`Ahir Bhairav`,along with the two cassettes on Raga:`Alhaiya Bilawal`.

1.if not a sitar maestro what else would you like to be?
-I never thought of being anything else besides sitar and will never think also.all I know is sitar…sitar…..sitar…………!
2.are you satisfied with your career?
Yes.i would say I will be happy when I have my own small academy of sitar where in I can teach young talents.
3.whom would you like to give credit for achieving this successful career?
My father is the whole and soul and my guru.without him I wouldn’t have been so successful.
Current position
He is a lecturer in the sitar faculty of Indian Music and Dance at the Kala Academy ,Goa, and continuing his studies under the guidance of his uncle and elder brothers.
Message to the young generation
Once you realize that you have an aptitude or talent you shouldn’t hesitate to dedicate your lives to the world of Music. Music can give you everything.
